Higher education institutions implement a training system for national resistance

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is launching a comprehensive transformation of safety and security training for students. Replacing the outdated Soviet-style "drill training," a modern course titled "Foundations of National Resistance" is being introduced. According to Deputy Minister Mykola Trofymenko, the updated curriculum focuses on practical skills essential for civilians in wartime: first aid, basic principles of defense, and the application of modern technologies.

This training is mandatory for all students, regardless of gender. However, alternative curricula are being developed for individuals with special educational needs or those whose religious beliefs preclude the use of weapons. Such an approach ensures the inclusivity of the educational process and allows every student to acquire critically important security knowledge.

It is vital to emphasize that the study of this discipline is not equivalent to military service. The educational process does not involve taking a military oath, undergoing medical examinations at recruitment centers, or obtaining the status of a person liable for military service. The program is strictly aimed at the basic training of the civilian population without granting a military occupational specialty or requiring attendance at military training grounds.
