UAE to introduce artificial intelligence as a school subject starting in 2025

Beginning in 2025, the United Arab Emirates plans to incorporate a dedicated subject on artificial intelligence into its national school curriculum, Bloomberg reports. The course will be offered across all educational levels in the country, from preschools through 12th grade.

The program will cover ethical considerations, foundational AI theory, and practical skills for applying artificial intelligence in real-world contexts.

The UAE has already made significant investments in data processing centers that support AI model development. Additionally, the country has established an artificial intelligence investment fund, which experts predict could exceed $100 billion in value within a few years.

Last year, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman suggested that the UAE could serve as a global “regulatory sandbox” for artificial intelligence—a controlled environment where innovative AI products and services can be tested under government supervision, helping to bring new technologies to market within legal and ethical frameworks.
