The educational program “DIyMO: Life Skills (Financial Literacy)” is being implemented in Ukraine under the coordination of the Children and Youth Office “DIyMO” at the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine. The goal of the initiative is to develop financial competencies among children and youth who are raised in residential institutions or in family-based care.To date, more than 1,500 participants have completed the training, gaining basic knowledge in personal finance management, budget planning, and making informed financial decisions.
The program is designed with real-life situations familiar to its participants, which makes the learning process practical and helps foster independence in financial matters. The format includes interactive offline or online training sessions instead of traditional lectures, involving experienced professionals.
Each participant receives educational materials, including a financial literacy book and an interactive brochure. The project covers 13 regions of Ukraine and is intended for young people aged 12 to 23.
The program is being implemented as part of the broader initiative “Supporting Children and Youth with Experience in Alternative Care,” carried out by UNICEF in partnership with the Ukrainian Child Rights Network and the Children and Youth Office “DIyMO.” Financial support is provided by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) through KfW, as well as by the European Union and the Government of Sweden.
