In Ukraine, large-scale drills to respond to attacks on energy infrastructure have begunOn August 13, 2025, large-scale interagency drills to respond to attacks on energy infrastructure facilities began in Ukraine. The Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Energy, law enforcement agencies, critical infrastructure operators, and regional authorities are taking part in the exercises.

The purpose of the drills is to test the readiness of all involved forces to operate as a single, well-coordinated mechanism in the event of emergencies related to shelling of energy facilities. Over a period of 24 days, the exercises will take place in seventeen regions and the capital, where the security situation permits. According to the scenario, a simulated shelling is recorded in a region, after which a series of measures is carried out — from alerting and deploying headquarters to eliminating the consequences and analyzing the protection of the facilities.

Special attention is being paid to coordination between security forces and energy services, including through continuous live video links from the scene. This allows for rapid assessment of the scale of the threat, identification of necessary resources, and forecasting of consequences. Units responsible for protecting critical infrastructure, including mobile fire groups to counter drone attacks, are involved in the drills.
