Ukraine has launched a program for training childcare specialists for infants and young children. The initiative's main goal is to formalize and standardize the profession, transition from informal experience to obtaining certified qualifications, and align the national labor market with European labor standards. The project "Childcare in Ukraine: A Systems Approach for Better Recovery" is implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in partnership with the NGO "Osvita 360" with financial support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
The educational process is provided by four specialized institutions: the Ivano-Frankivsk Vocational Education Center of the State Employment Service, Lebedyn Pedagogical Professional College, Mykolaiv Center of Vocational Education, and Bohuslav Humanitarian Professional College. Training is conducted according to updated curricula under the qualification "Nanny for Infant and Early Child Care" (occupational code 5131), followed by qualification assessment and the issuance of state-recognized certificates.
Applications are currently open for the first training cohorts. Full funding for the first 45 registered participants who meet all program requirements will be covered through the ILO project grant.
