The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has launched the first comprehensive national study aimed at analyzing the impact of artificial intelligence on school education under martial law. The project has achieved international recognition, ranking among the top 12 global initiatives of the EMEA Youth & Wellbeing program, and will be fully funded by OpenAI. The large-scale monitoring will be implemented by experts from the WINWIN EdTech Center of Excellence and the East Europe Foundation.

The study will survey over 7,000 respondents, including students aged 12–17, their parents, and educators. Researchers plan to examine current AI tool utilization in Ukrainian schools in detail, assessing how these technologies transform the learning process and interaction among participants. The initiative will culminate in the creation of the AI Safety Toolkit—a specialized set of guidelines for the secure use of neural networks—alongside the launch of an open analytical dashboard.

The empirical data collected will serve as the foundation for strategic recommendations to modernize national educational policy and integrate innovative approaches into schooling. Concurrently, the practical digitalization of the sector is already underway in Ukraine. Notably, the state-backed school application Mriia, currently being piloted across various learning formats nationwide, has introduced its first AI-driven feature: an automated test generator designed to optimize teachers' workflows.
