The European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), as part of the “Voices of Ukraine” initiative, has opened a call for applications for educational grants for independent Ukrainian media outlets. The launch of the program was announced by the project’s communications team.Applicants can receive up to €5,000 in funding to implement training activities that support newsroom operations under the challenging conditions of the full-scale war. The grants can be used for both emergency educational initiatives and long-term programs aimed at strengthening the resilience and development of media organizations. Training formats may include on-site, local, online, or hybrid sessions — depending on the newsroom’s needs.
Priority will be given to:
- regional, local, and hyperlocal media operating in frontline regions or those forced to relocate from occupied territories, as well as journalists and fixers regularly working in high-risk zones;
- regional newsrooms from other parts of Ukraine facing financial, logistical, or security challenges;
- small and medium-sized independent national media focused on the public interest and with limited access to external support;
- media organizations that systematically cover the war and counter Russian disinformation.
All educational programs must be completed by December 30, 2025, and should primarily target the newsroom team submitting the application. Training topics may include psychological resilience, physical and cyber security, development of journalistic and editorial skills, strategic planning, content quality improvement, and strengthening of media organizations’ capacity.
The application deadline is November 9, 2025, via the provided link.
Detailed information on eligibility criteria and the application procedure can be found on the official program website.
