Ukraine has launched specialized training for educators from 150 pilot academic lyceums to serve as career education counselors. This initiative marks the initial phase of a comprehensive rollout of career guidance and counseling systems as part of the upper secondary school reform.
The primary focus of the counselors' work is providing personalized support to students in developing and tailoring their individual educational pathways. Specialists will conduct individual and group sessions aimed at identifying students' abilities and professional interests, as well as helping them make informed decisions regarding their further education and career paths.
Beyond direct work with students, career counselors will coordinate collaboration among teaching staff, parents, and external institutional partners. Their activities will ensure the seamless integration of career guidance into the educational process, fostering a supportive environment for youth professional self-determination.
The practical experience gained in pilot schools and the established network of qualified counselors will serve as the methodological and organizational foundation for scaling the career education system across senior secondary schools nationwide.
