New opportunities for women and vulnerable groups: Ukraine launches retraining project with guaranteed employment

Ukraine has launched a major new initiative titled “From Education to Employment: Professional Training for Women and Other Target Groups,” announced by the Enterprise Development Fund. This large-scale project is part of the multi-donor Skills4Recovery program, funded by the European Union in collaboration with the governments of Germany, Poland, and Estonia.

The project aims to strengthen Ukraine’s national vocational education system and develop effective mechanisms for retraining and upskilling socially vulnerable groups, particularly women, internally displaced persons, veterans, and others who need support to secure employment.

Training will be delivered through specially adapted programs aligned with current labor market demands. Participants will gain qualifications for in-demand professions across sectors experiencing skilled labor shortages, including construction, transport and logistics, agriculture, and the service industry.

Who Can Participate in the Project?

The project invites three key groups to participate:

  • Employers: Companies with open vacancies seeking candidates for retraining in specific sectors. Employers must submit applications via the Enterprise Development Fund’s website, indicating the professional profiles they require. This information will help shape training groups based on real business needs.

  • Candidates: Women, internally displaced persons, veterans, and other members of target groups looking to change careers, upgrade their skills, and secure stable employment. They may be recruited through enterprises, employment centers, or educational institutions.

  • Vocational Education Institutions: Accredited institutions ready to develop and implement training programs tailored to the specific needs of the labor market and employers’ requests.

Guaranteed Employment After Training

The project not only offers high-quality professional training but also ensures clear pathways to employment. As Andrii Hapon, Chairman of the Enterprise Development Fund, noted:

“It is important to mention that after completing the course, participants will be employed at the enterprise where they underwent practical training, and the job will be guaranteed for at least 6 months.”

This approach not only increases the effectiveness of training but also ensures genuine integration of graduates into the workforce.

Detailed participation requirements and the application form are available on the Enterprise Development Fund’s website.
