This camp, named after the legendary Viking fortress of Jomsborg, is part of the international "Legion" operation, which includes countries from Northern Europe, the Baltic, and Poland. Jomsborg has become an essential link in providing Ukraine with the necessary military training, weapons, and equipment.Construction work on the camp, including tents, shooting ranges, and other infrastructure, began this summer and is ongoing. However, even during the construction phase, the first groups of Ukrainian soldiers have already started their training. The training covers a wide range of combat situations, including the simulation of artillery strikes, drone attacks, and tactical operations in close combat conditions.
A key feature of this camp is not only its strategic role in preparing Ukrainian soldiers but also its focus on safety. The location of the camp was chosen to minimize the threat from russian missiles and drones, which have repeatedly targeted training grounds in Ukraine.
This project also involves active exchange of experience between Ukrainian and Norwegian military personnel, with the Ukrainian side sharing its unique combat experience. Training at the Jomsborg camp follows the "train as you fight" approach, enabling soldiers to prepare effectively for real combat conditions.
By leading the "Legion" operation, Norway reaffirms its determination to support Ukraine in its fight for independence and territorial integrity, contributing to the development of a reliable and professional army.
