The German government has revised its previous plans for strict budget cuts and agreed on a compromise regarding the funding of integration courses for migrants. According to official statements from coalition representatives and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), the updated funding program will take effect on June 1, providing more lenient conditions for language learning than previously anticipated.

The legislative changes will directly affect Ukrainian refugees, as well as European Union citizens interested in employment within the German labor market. Starting this summer, these categories of individuals will once again have access to free tuition under a nationwide quota. The number of available spots will depend directly on the volume of allocated state funding.

Meanwhile, conditions remain unchanged for asylum seekers whose legal status is currently under review; comprehensive integration courses will continue to be unavailable to them. This category of individuals is offered exclusively short-term introductory sessions for general orientation, while participation in the core program remains a rare exception, contingent upon the availability of remaining budget funds.
