The new 2026/2027 academic year will run from September 1 to June 30, starting off with a First Lesson titled "Language of Dignity," which is dedicated to fostering a culture of respect and accessibility.Pedagogical councils have been granted broad autonomy to flexibly adapt schedules, holiday breaks, and school weeks during potential blackouts, while preparing learning materials in advance and building up 48-hour emergency supplies on site.
Practical updates include a new threshold for dividing primary school classes into groups (starting at 24 students), data verification in the AICOM system for the "School Kit" initiative, and interactive e-supplements for 4th, 8th, and 9th-grade textbooks.
The Ministry of Education and Science also emphasizes inclusion and maintaining connection with children abroad or in temporarily occupied territories, while reliable shelters, quality catering, mandatory medical checkups, and routine vaccinations remain strict requirements for in-person classes.
