The Ukrainian project Diia.Education has gained international recognition by being featured on the global platform Apolitical, where the best practices of public policy are shared. Project lead Ruslana Korenchuk presented research on how the development of citizens’ digital skills has become a driving force behind Ukraine’s digital transformation.Launched in 2020, Diia.Education quickly became a key tool for online learning. During the full-scale war, the platform expanded with courses on cyber hygiene, psychological resilience, legal knowledge, and retraining opportunities for displaced people, veterans, and educators. Today, it has more than 2.8 million registered users, has issued over 4.7 million certificates, and achieved a course completion rate of 75% — higher than global benchmarks.
Special attention is given to inclusivity: the platform provides adaptations for people with visual and hearing impairments, bilingual subtitles, an accessible interface, and a plain-language glossary. In the future, it plans to implement AI-powered tools to deliver personalized learning experiences.
Thus, Diia.Education has become an example of how political leadership, partnerships with business, and donor support can scale digital literacy and leverage education as a tool for adaptation and recovery in times of war.
