Since 2025, the new Law of Ukraine “On Mandatory Civil Liability Insurance of Motor Vehicle Owners” No. 3720 has entered into force in Ukraine, establishing updated rules in the field of motor insurance.

Direct settlement of claims has become a mandatory standard for all insurers that conclude MTPL contracts. This means that a driver injured in a traffic accident can now receive compensation directly from their own insurance company, without applying to the insurer of the party at fault.

Electronic policies. Starting from 2026, MTPL contracts will be issued exclusively in an online format. In addition, the electronic “Green Card” has already been recognized in all countries that are part of the international system.

Optimized settlement deadlines. The maximum payout period has been reduced from 90 to 60 days. The insurance company is obliged to provide full compensation without taking into account vehicle depreciation, as well as to offer at least three options of service stations for prompt repairs.
