In the city of Malyn, the joint Ukrainian-Estonian pilot project “Leap Forward in Recreational Education in Malyn” is underway, aimed at creating a modern system of extracurricular education. For three days, a delegation from Estonia visited the community, holding a series of training sessions and consultations with local authorities, educators, and leaders of extracurricular groups. The goal of the project is to introduce new approaches to organizing extracurricular education — in particular, strengthening the role of practical activities, developing children’s creative and technical skills, and enhancing teachers’ professional competence. During the visit, Estonian experts took part in the forum “Youth — a Driving Force for Change in the Community” and conducted training sessions for educators and parents.
As part of the project, a large-scale survey was conducted among students, parents, and teachers, involving nearly one thousand participants. The collected data will serve as the basis for further analysis and planning of extracurricular education reforms in the community. The project will run until September 30, 2026.
In parallel, another international initiative is being implemented in Malyn — the reconstruction of the Children’s School of Arts, for which Estonia has provided over 2 million euros. Both projects are interconnected and designed to create a modern space for the development of children and youth.
