Free online courses for educators and parents: providing psychological support to children during wartime

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine reports the launch of two free online courses authored by child and family psychologist Svitlana Roiz, available on the "Zrozumilo!" platform. The training programs are designed for teachers, school psychologists, educators, and parents who seek to master practical tools for stabilizing children's emotional state. Course materials cover action algorithms for panic attacks, tantrums, sleep disturbances, as well as techniques for overcoming anxiety and aggression in children.

The first program—"Psychological Safety of Adults and Children During Air Raids at School"—focuses on action algorithms during threat alerts. Participants will learn how to organize a safe transition to shelters, regulate their own emotional responses, and help students return to the educational process following a stressful situation. The course offers effective exercises for self-regulation and stress relief directly inside the shelter.

The second course—"How to Support a Child During War?"—covers a broad range of issues related to the long-term impact of war on a child's psyche. The program offers solutions for adapting children to new conditions, overcoming night terrors, and includes play-based methodologies to address anxiety and aggression. Special emphasis is placed on restoring adult resources, as the emotional resilience of parents and educators serves as a foundational condition for supporting a child.

Training is conducted remotely and at a flexible pace. Upon successful completion of each course, participants receive a certificate of professional development equivalent to 6 academic hours (0.2 ECTS credits), which counts toward self-education requirements. Registration for the programs is available directly on the "Zrozumilo!" educational platform.
